Arhar Dal or Toor Dal






Ingredients:


  • 1 cup Arhar Dal/Toor Dal
  • 1 tbsp Desi Ghee/Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • 6-7 cloves of Garlic
  • 2 Small Piece of Ginger
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Coriander Leaves - For Garnishing


Method:


  1. Soak Arhar Dal in water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add 1 tbsp Desi Ghee or Oil.
  3. Now add 1 tsp cumin seeds and a pinch of Asafoetida.
  4. Make paste of Garlic, ginger and green chilli.
  5. When Cumin Seeds starts crackling, add paste of ginger-garlic-green chilli. Saute it for 1-2 Minutes.
  6. Now add dry spices (Turmeric Powder,red chilli powder and Salt). Mix well.
  7. When masala is prepared, add soaked Arhar Dal.
  8. Mix well and add 1 Glass of Water.
  9. Pressure cook it for upto 2 whistles.
  10. Add lemon juice for flavour.
  11. Garnish it with Coriander leaves and desi ghee.
  12. Serve it hot with Makki ki roti and jaggery.
